Punishment

One of my latest posts I have covered about clashes. If clashes are something that we don’t like to appear in the chart or between Luck and Annual pillars due to the stress caused, punishments are not less harmful. People with punishment in their chart always feel unhappy, pessimistic or never satisfied. Even when they are high, they will always find something that makes them feel unhappy. So, their happiness is only ephemeral.

When we talk about punishment, it always sounds negative or like suffering, but it doesn’t have to be always like this. If the elements involved are favourable, the problems will occur, but they will not harm or at least are tolerable.

There are four types of punishments. The animal signs involved should be side-by-side in the natal chart if they are not come from Luck and Annual pillars.

UNGRATEFUL PUNISHMENT

This type of punishment is established between the signs Monkey-Snake-Tiger and as the name implies, it means betrayal. People with this punishment will usually help others and in return, will get themselves in trouble. It can also involve accidents, illnesses or injuries.

If the punishment is found inside the chart, it will be triggered by any of the signs involved when they appear at the Luck, Annual, Monthly or Daily pillars. That’s mean, frequently. If there are only two of them then the third sign will be the triggering element. Whenever this sign appears the punishment will occur.

As punishments involve at least two pillars, it will also affect the relationships with the family, specially spouse and/or parents.

BULLYING PUNISHMENT

This time the animal signs involved are Sheep-Dog-Ox and the punishment indicates situations when we are helpless or cornered and can’t do anything to prevent.

Internally (inside the chart) this punishment means we put pressure on ourselves and externally (come from other pillars) it means that someone else will bully us.

The main issues of this kind of punishment is about relationship and legal problems, lawsuits, bickering, gossiping and backstabbing.

Although punishment always means pressure, if the elements are favourable or positive and useful then the outcome can still be good.

UNCIVILIZED PUNISHMENT

Rabbit-Rat are the animal signs involved in this punishment. Rabbit (Mao 卯) is wood element and Rat (Zi 子) is water element. Water feeds wood and wood should be grateful but instead “bite the hand who feeds”. This is the scenario of punishment, where uncivilized means rough, rude, impolite, savage or barbarous, unmannered or uneducated. People are doing things in an unpolished way, being rude or disrespectful.

Rabbit and Rat are also Peach Blossom stars, when hostiles and in serious cases, this suggest issues related to uncontrolled sexual desire. Depending on the chart, one can be abusive or being abused by.

Red – Uncivilized Punishment
Blue – Bullying Punishment
Black – Ungrateful Punishment

SELF PUNISHMENT

As the name implies, this kind of punishments involve the DM doing silly things knowing is wrong or stupid but doing it anyway, like smoking, drinking, dating the wrong people or having drugs. After all, being the own enemy. The seriousness of the outcome will depend on the strength of the elements and its favourableness. If this situation happens in a daily or monthly pillar the consequences should be minors and if the elements are not hostile the chances of a positive outcome are there. Imagine that I decide to spend all day in my kitchen making some pastry and at the end of the day I turned out with a lot of pain. It is the bad side but the good one is that I have a lot of cakes and cookies for the rest of the week!

We have Self Punishments when these four animal signs repeat inside the chart or come from other pillars.

酉-酉(Rooster) refers to situations like someone seeking recognition at any price and receive some eggs instead.

辰-辰 (Dragon) refers to people living their own separate life from the world, unable to show their talents, easily depressed and usually unable to finish what have start.

亥-亥(Boar) refers to people who are usually depressed because they can’t get what they want due to laziness and can lead to suicidal behaviour.

午-午(Horse) refers to people who travel too much and can’ t pursue what they want and they also like to win and don’t welcome criticism being impatient and extreme.

  1. Hi,

Wonder if you can help with an general intrerpretation on a friend’s chart.
I was looking at his chart and saw that in 2 years he will enter in a LP that is self-punishment with day master (wu-wu self-punishment).
Then i realised that this is not the only issue that his next LP will bring…
Also a Harm with month pillar and a clash with year pillar (acctually, is a Fan Yin with year).

His chart is (don’t have infomation on hour):
    DM | MP | YP
Bing Wu | Gui Chou | Ren Zi

    Next LP is Wu Wu

So, this seems all bad things coming:) Is it like this? What expect? If you can leave me some lights i’ll appreciate a lot.

    Thank you
    Best regards,
    Marisa

    1. Hi Marisa,
It seems that a more challenging period is coming for your friend. But you need to confirm if his DM is really weak by finding the hour pillar. You can do this using the 12 possibilities and try to match which one will better suit him. For a strong DM this can be a good pillar indeed.Fan Yin YP can actually bring more obstacles or one can feel less fortunate but with the rigth effort, there are the chances to good achievements.

      1. Thanks a lot for your answer, I’ll try to find his birth hour as you suggest.
I really love to read your thoughts about people’s doubt.
        Best regards,
        Marisa

  2. Hello, I was wondering. What if a bar chart had a combination of penalties? For example.
    The pillar :
    yi | Geng | Gui | Bing
    You | Yin | Si | Shen

Where, there are Yin, Si, & Shen..

Did Si & Shen combine first? Turn into water soaring into the sky & rooted in Shen’s character?

Or fail to combine and reform punishment between Yin, Si, and Shen?

    Please enlighten me …
    Tq

    1. Hi Dewi,
The branches that form the punishment won’t transform but the energy and the consequences will take place anyway.
If there are more types of combinations then you have to find which one is stronger. In the case you mentioned, the combination between Si and Shen should be able to take place and transform through the stem Gui. But in a more advance level, you need to see the strength of the branches, Si & Shen. Si is in the Month Branch which is very strong and Gui is only rooted at Shen in the Sub-Qi and with the opposite polarity. Further on Gui is weak in the Summer so strong fire may not transform and Si will maintain Si. However, from this combination you can count on one hidden HO (Gui is HO for Geng DM).

      1. thank you for the answer .. actually i want to be honest .. bazi formation above is bazi my son, who was born on may 8 2016. I wonder how his life. and I’m interested in learning bazi. I immediately found this web … I almost could not believe, the combination of my son’s Bazi … could he be a successful person?

      2. Hi Dewi. Indeed, a Full Punishment is not a Formation that we like to see in a chart. But it doesn’t mean that the owner can not be successful. I know people with this formation inside the natal chart and they are very successful, with good family and inviable career. The problem here is about emotions. People with punishment always feel unhappy like something is always not as they wish. It is necessarely to be aware and try to have a different view about life and the most important:ACCEPT! Stop judging everything. As a child, it can be hard to deal with it but as he grows, you need to teach him how to accept.

  3. Hello,

Wonder if you can take a look at my friend’s chart for a general interpretation, quite concerned that his chart has punishment in his next Year Pillar for 2020, where there is a punishment of Zi-Mao.

I was looking at his chart and saw that next year he will enter an AP that is uncivilized punishment and within the LP there is bullying punishment involving Wei-Chou-Xu in Ding Wei year, does this bullying punishment necessarily mean that the punishment will affect his career/aspiration since it involves Chou & Xu?

I found that his birth timing from his birth certificate is:
    YP | MP | DM | HP
    Geng | Ji | Ji | Jia
    Wu | Chou | Mao | Xu

    Next AP is Geng Zi
    Current LP is Ren Chen

does that appers that bad things are coming for him in 2020 and Ding Wei year?
Is my interpretation of the chart based on this topic of punishment correct, hope you can share some insights with me, thanks!

    Binu P. H.

    1. Chou-Xu-Wei hitting HP and MP will affect his state of mind and career. But are they favourable? Being all earth element representing friend stars for him,if they are positive, you may see it as a good thing. Giving an example: let’s say he is bullied by superiors to do more effort and work and the outcome can please the boss resulting in a promotion (F/RW stand for money if they are favourable and strong)

  4. Hey i have Xin in my month chart (yin metal rooster) and Xin (yin metal rooster) at my day master. what does it means? And what should i do?

    1. Hi Rovie,
Bazi means 8 characters. You can’t get information with only two of them. And your DM can’t be Rooster. Look for the resource information.
      Cheers.

  5. hi,

i’m asking for a friend, her chart looks like this but we dont know birth hour:
    bing geng bing
    shen yin yin

she was born 21 feb 1986

does she mean she has punishment? what does it mean in her life? i find it strange but she it not really unhappy person, but she is such a nice person until sometimes a little bullied. also unmarried at age 36 now. hope you can give a further insight. thank you

    1. Hi JS,
If you read the post about punishment you will know that Monkey-Snake-Tiger form the Ungrateful punisment (all of three must be present). When you find only two of them, then we say that there is a half punishment but we are talking about the natal chart. This means that the situation is present and there are possibilities of happen. When? Only when the outside pillars come to trigger. In this particular case, when the third element appears at LP or AP, you will feel the energy of the punishment. How serious it can be? It will depends on the strength of the branch inside that pillar and if you have protectors inside the chart. Everything works together and you have to look for those 6 pillars as a picture to find the outcome. Cheers.
